An Electrical Contractor is a contractor whose principal contracting business consists of the execution of contracts requiring the experience, financial means, knowledge and skill to install, repair, alter, add to or change any electrical wires, fixtures, appliances, apparatus, raceways, conduit or any part thereof, which generates, transmits, transforms or utilizes electrical energy in any form for light, heat, power or communications including the electrical installations and systems within plants and substations, all in such manner as to comply with all plans, specifications, codes, laws and regulations applicable and his scope of work shall include that of a room air-conditioning contractor, installation only. The scope of such contractor's work shall apply to private and public property and shall include any excavation and paving work incidental thereto, and shall include the work of all specialty electrical contractors. Such contractors shall subcontract with a qualified contractor in the field concerned, all other work incidental to the work, but which is specified herein as being the work of a trade other than that of an electrical contractor.
NOTICE: We believe that the two fire alarm books (#2 and 4) listed in the bulletin for this exam are in error. Neither the exam content or scope of work (republished above) include any fire or burglar alarm content, these two books don't belong. We advise that you contact ProV before buying these books to verify that they are actually required.
